When it comes to moms, gift giving can be especially stressful. Of all the people in the world, we readily agree that "Mom" is deserving of the very best. Which makes the gift giving decisions a bit more pressure packed. After nearly 26 years in business, we have accumulated some knowledge on what makes one gift more of "a hit" than others. We've put together our knowledge into a simple guide for you this Mother's Day.
There are THREE elements that every "successful" gift has in common:
INDULGENCE This sounds like an expensive word, we know...but what we classify as "indulgent" doesn't necessarily come with a big price tag. Something indulgent simply means that she probably wouldn't buy it for herself. Moms are generally the definition of self sacrifice. This means spending $7 on a bath balm for little Jane is no problem, but when it comes to spending $7 or $10 on herself, little Jane's Mom thinks that is too expensive! Therefore, something as inexpensive as a bath balm, pedicure or manicure would be considered an "indulgence" to Mom! So, when you're going for indulgence, think of something Mom may readily buy for others but won't buy for herself! EXPERIENCE This is an especially important element for that Mom who has everything! Obviously, an element of "experience" is most commonly associated with an event. Does Mom have a favorite band? Broadway show? Movie? Spa? Restaurant? Get her tickets or make a reservation! Often spending time together doing something she specifically loves is the most impactful gift you can give. Even if you decide to get her a physical gift like a piece of jewelry, pajamas, new shoes, etc....you can still make the gift giving an "experience" by making sure it is GIFT WRAPPED! Unwrapping a beautifully wrapped gift can be an experience in itself & makes whatever item inside even more special. EMOTIONAL/PERSONAL This is possibly the most important & easiest aspect to include in your gift. The key is to make it personal. This is as simple as including a hand written card or note with your gift. Let her know you took the time to put a few thoughts on paper. Combine all three of these elements this Mother's Day & give the perfect gift! Have questions? Need more suggestions? Contact me! [email protected]

Very good and wise comments. and you're exactly right, Moms will spend for their children and grands before they will for themselves. Thanks for the tips Jordan

Great advice! Love the “indulgence” explanation! My mom is so accomplished at so many things that it can be daunting! But this made me realize that we both bring different ideas to the table. For her, it’s not the expense of the gift at all. It’s the “wow, I would never have bought this for myself” factor. Thanks for the pointers!! Good job Jordan!

It made sense when you stated that the key to a successful gift is making it personal. This got me thinking of gifting my husband with a baccarat rouge 540 perfume gift set. He loves to have a baccarat perfume since we first met, so I am sure he will find it personal.

I loved what you said about buying something indulgent for mom. My mom is turning 47 next month, and I really want to get her a good gift. She is very religious, so I think that something to do with our religion would be a really great gift for her.

I just have a question. What is the brand of costume vintage look jewelry with stones you all carried at one time and May still carry? I do not live close by but I’ve been in your store shopping. You had a jewelry stand I adored but I cannot remember the name of it!
